P.S. I Love You! (That’s Petite Sirah)

PetiteSirah3This Tuesday Tasting we try three California Petite Sirahs that express the variety that can be found in this small grape that packs a big punch. Featuring:

  • Greystone, Napa – Purchased by the Culinary Institute of America in the 90s, this 80-year-old vineyard has a history of making approachable, easy drinking wines and this PS is no exception: smooth and lighter than most styles of the varietal (making it a great option for warm weather barbecues), this red is still fruit filled with black and blue berries and hints of spice. $11 btl, $5 btg
  • Spellbound, Napa – Another Napa sampling, this 100% petite sirah has been called “a bargain at twice the price” by Robert Parker due to its rich, full-bodied flavor of blackberries, vanilla and a hint of roasted coffee with a long elegant finish. $14 btl, $6 btg
  • Shannon Ridge High Elevation, Lake County – Grown (sustainably) in the mountains of Northern Cali results in rich, flavorful berries  that are aged in French & American oak to showcase the flavors of the dark fruit balanced by notes of pepper, cedar and toasted oak. $14 btl, $6 btg

Tasting: $10
