Treasure Hunter

treasure-hunterThis Tuesday Tasting, we strike gold with 3 rich reds from Treasure Hunter, a West-Coast négociant that specializes in buying micro-lots and one-time releases from top wineries in the region. For every 100 wines they try, only 1 or 2 are selected. The results? One-of-a-kind wines at a true value. This week we feature:

  • School Night Blend, CA – This rich blend of Zin, Petite Sirah, and Barbera tastes of black cherry, blueberry, with a touch of pepper and smoke. $8 btg, $16 btl
  • Side Piece Cab, WA – This 100% Cab out of Walla Walla is packed with ripe fruit flavours of black currants and berries, balanced by a beautiful minerality and touch of herbs. $10 btg, $24 btl
  • Sacred Bull Cab, CA – Treasure Hunter’s newest (and smallest) release, this 2012 Napa Cab from Howell Mountain (home to some of the oldest vines in Cali and best Bordeaux grapes in the world) exemplifies Napa Cabs: rich and layered, tasting of dark fruits, Asian spices, rich smokey flavours and earth. $12 btg, $29 btl
