This Tuesday Tasting (Aug 29) we try 3 juicy, Spanish Grenaches that are consistently written up for their great taste (and value!). Featuring:
- Ludovicus – Grown in Terra Alta (the highlands of northern Spain) this highly ranked red (WA: 90pts) is made from organically farmed Grenache and aged in French and American oak to create a luscious black cherry liqueur flavor with a touch of anise and spice. $14 btl, $7 btg
- Tres Picos – Another highly ranked wine (WS: 90; Vinous: 91), this Grenache is grown in a mountainous region resulting in low-yield, but intensely flavored fruit, producing an elegant red tasting of blackberry and plum with a touch of leather and vanilla. $17 btl, $8 btg
- Zestos – An old-vine Grenache that wine critic Robert Parker has called “unbelievable wine for the price”, this lively red tastes of black raspberry and cherry with a hint of white pepper and minerals. $11 btl, $6 btg
