Reveling in Riojas

riojawinesThis Tuesday Tasting (September 11) we try three tasty reds from the Rioja region of Spain. Featuring:

  • Montebuena Rioja – This 100% Tempranillo is aged in American oak to create bright, ruby red tasting of cherries and blackcurrant along with a hint of baking spices and vanilla. $13 btl, $6 btg
  • Palacio del Burgo Rioja Crianza – This blend of Tempranillo and Graciano is fermented in stainless steel then aged in American Oak for 2 years to create an elegant blend of fruit (cherry and raspberry) and spices (smoked herbs and black pepper) on the finish. $15 btl, $7 btg
  • Vina Zaco Tempranillo – Grown on the largest vineyard in the high plains (Rioja Alta) the Bilbainas house calls this Tempranillo their “Rebellious Red” for a reason: dry chalky soils and arid conditions lead to ripe fruity grapes that are aged and oaked differently in each vintage to showcase the boisterous flavors of red and black berries, ripe plums and hints of anise. $15 btl, $7 btg
