Shades of Chardonnay

sauvblancThis Tuesday Tasting we try three toasty California Chards that are sunshine in a bottle:

  • Paris Valley Road – This elegant white grown just 30 miles from the Monterey Coast delivers rich fruit flavors balanced by the chalky soil of the region: honeydew melon, white peach and green apple are complimented by a clean minerality on the finish. $13 btl, $6 btg
  • Lander Jenkins – Rutherford Vineyards’ more accessible line of wines deliver great taste at great value and their Chard is no exception: rich flavors of baked apple, cream custard and toasted almond are balanced with a touch of lemon zest. $14 btl, $7 btg
  • Peirano – Grown in the heart of Lodi, this rich white bursts with fruit flavors of yellow apples, fresh peaches and ripe melon and is aged in French oak to add more than a hint of butter and vanilla to the mix. $14 btl, $7 btg
