Not Your Cali Cabs

southernhemicabsThis Tuesday Tasting we three great Cabs that are from the deep, deep South (Southern Hemisphere, that is). Featuring:

  • Gouguenheim Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Argentina – A classic Cab style with rich, new-world grapes is aged for 1 year in French oak (to become a “Reserva”) and results in a dry red tasting of dried cherry, Asian spices and a touch of leather. $13 btl, $7 btg
  • RedHeads Mohawk Cab, Australia – Grown in the McLaren Vale, this powerful Cabernet is all about fruit flavors of black currants and berries with a lovely touch of cedar and mint on the finish. $21 btl. $8 btg
  • Stark Conde Cab, South Africa – This award-winning cab is grown on a high-elevation vineyard in Jonkershoek Valley, blended with just a touch of Petit Verdot and Cab Franc (4%) and aged in French oak to create a powerful, but silky Bordeaux-style red tasting of cassis, black cherry, a hint of smoke, and herbs in each elegant layer. $23 btl, $9 btg

Tasting: $13
