Mad for Malbecs

madformalbecThis Tuesday Tasting (May 7) we try three Argentinian reds that show off the versatility of this fruit-forward grape. Featuring:

  • TintoNegro – This “Black Wine” celebrates the essence of Malbec, known for its dark color and dark fruit flavours: raspberry, blackberry and dark currant combine in this dry, spicy red with a touch of acid on the finish. $12 btl, $6 btg
  • Crios – This consistently well-ranked red by winemaker Susana Balbo is “meant to be consumed by the case, not the bottle” (Wilford Wong, Wine.com): lush and elegant tasting of freshly crushed black cherry, blackberry and blueberry with just a touch of baking spice and sandalwood it pairs well with most food and drinks even better on its own. $13 btl, $6 btg
  • Padrillos – 4th generation winemaker Ernesto Catena rolled out this label to highlight, small vintage, high-quality, modern Malbecs: smooth and rich with notes of dark berries and plum, this Malbec is aged in French and American Oak to add more than a touch of spice, smoke and vanilla to the finish. $14 btl, $7 btg

Tasting: $11
