This week we take a trip on the Patagonia Express down to Argentina to try 3 tasty wines.
- Dom Bousquet Sparkling Rose –This elegant dry sparkling rose from the Mendoza estate of 4th-generation French winemakers is made from organic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes grown at 4,000 ft above sea level. The result ? Ripe red berries, watermelon and a hint of minerals and a touch of cream on the finish. $13 btl, $6 btg
- Septima Malbec – Made by the Codorniu family (famous for their Spanish Cavas), Septima is the seventh vineyard the family owns (and first in Argentina) established 20 years ago and built using the native Huarpe dry-stonewall system to protect the vines and allow for sustainable, organic winemaking. The result is an elegant 100% Malbec tasting of blackberry, cherry, plum and fig with a touch of vanilla and spice. $14 btl, $7 btg
- Bodega Norton Privada Estate Reserve – This internationally acclaimed winery consists of five estates throughout Mendoza and is renowned for its reds. The Privada Blend was originally made at the request of the Swarovski family and reserved for their private cellar. A blend of the best barrels of old-vine Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and aged two years in French oak, the result is a complex, elegant red tasting of blackberry, mulberry and black cherry with hints of toast, coffee and Indian spices. $29 btl, $10 btg
