This week we continue our tour of Spain with three more tasty wines. Featuring:
- Gotas de Mar Godello, Rias Baixas – Grown along the Atlantic coast and border of Portugal, this region is famous for its white wines for good reason: this elegant Godello combines stone fruit and tropical fruit flavours with a touch of minerality and sea salt in a big, full-bodied white. $19 btl, $8 btg
- Bodegas Nekeas Cepa por Cepa, Navarra – This vineyard specializes in growing only old-vine Garnacha (grown in the “goblet method”), which might explain why their reds gains such high critical acclaim: this 100% Garnacha undergoes cold fermentation and very light aging in neutral oak to highlight the rich fruit flavors of the grape (red cherry, raspberry and strawberry) balanced with a beautiful minerality and silky finish. $13 btl, $6 btg
- Bodegas LAN Rioja Reserva, Rioja – This classic Rioja (92% Tempranillo and 8% Mazuelo) spends 18 months in oak and another 2 years in the bottle before release to craft an elegant, layered red with dark cherry and red berry notes, hints of almond, vanilla and cinnamon and a nice touch of cedar on the nose. While it drinks beautifully now, this is also a red that will age well over time. $21 btl, $9 btg
Due to the popularity of last week’s flatbread (and since we’re still drinking Spanish wines), we’ll be offering the same flatbread pairing for this week:
Shrimp & Chorizo Flatbread with Sweet & Tangy Tomato — $8
Please let me know when you have another event like this as We just moved to downtown and want to attend wine tasting events. Thank you
Hi Julia, welcome to the neighborhood! We schedule a new tasting every week (used to be on Tuesdays only, but with Covid, we are spreading out Tues-Thurs) and post our upcoming tastings on our website and Facebook. Hopefully later this summer if people can begin traveling again, we’ll restart our “Meet the Maker” series as well where winemakers and experts in the field come in and talk about their wines. Hope you’re able to drop by one evening!
