Weekly Wine Flight: Tues, Jan 25 – Thurs, Jan 27
This week we try 3 different varietals from the (really) deep south of the Americas. Featuring:
- Root 1 Carmenere, Chile—The “lost grape of Bordeaux” (thought extinct until discovered in Chile in 1994) shines in this bright red with cherry, vanilla and spice flavors and a dry, slightly dusty finish. $7 btg, $12 btl
- Sophenia Altosur Malbec, Argentina – This medium-bodied red is filled with black fruit flavours (blackberry, black plum, currants and fig) with notes of spice and toasted wood plus a hint of the chalky soils of the Uco Valley where it is grown. $8 btg, $14 btl
- Scarlet Vine Cabernet Sauvignon, Chile – Grown in the foothills of the Andes, this Cab benefits from dry weather and cool evenings resulting in small – but potent! – grapes that make for a rich, aromatic Cab tasting of black cherry, raspberry, toasted oak, and a touch of dried herbs and earthiness. $9 btg, $16 btl
Tasting: $11
