Crazy for Cavas (Spanish Sparklings)

AnnaCodorniuThis Tuesday Tasting we feature 3 Spanish Sparklings from world-famous cava producers.

  • Anna de Codorniu Cava Brut – From the oldest cava house in Spain (vineyard est. 1551), Codorniu began making cava in 1872 and named it for Anna de Codorniu, whose marriage consolidated two of the largest wine-making families of the time. Anna was the first cava to incorporate chardonnay in its blend, which gives it delicate flavors of white peach and pineapple that combine with the citrus and yeasty flavors unique to a bubbly made in the méthode champenoise style (secondary fermentation in the bottle.) ($7 btg, $16 btl)
  • Perles Roses Naveran – For more than 100 years, Naveran has been perfecting the art of making cava, and it shows in this soft, elegant sparkling made from 100% pinot noir that is aged 24 months to achieve fine, long-lasting bubbles with flavors of strawberry and vanilla. ($7 btg, $16 btl)
  • Anna de Codorniu Cava Rosé – This blend of pinot noir and chardonnay produces a fresh, lively rosé tasting of cherry, strawberry and green apple with a strong mineral finish.($7 btg, $16 btl)
