Tues – Thurs Tasting
Jan 5 – Jan 7
For our first tasting of the year, we try 3 great new Cali wines from Vina Robles Winery. Founded by Swiss native Hans Nef who fell in love with the Paso Robles region, it now encompasses 6 vineyards in the AVA focusing on grapes that excel in this terroir.
- Sauvignon Blanc – This Sav walks the fine line between the fruit-forwardness of Cali Savs (think tropical flavours of passionfruit and guava) and the acidity of New Zealand Savs (a touch of pink grapefruit and pleasant grassiness). $15 btl, $7 btg
- The Arborist – This highly acclaimed red blend (Wine Enthusiast Top 100) is both a “taste good” and “feel good” wine as the proceeds go to One Tree Planted, which has planted more than 15 million trees to date. A blend of Syrah, Petite Syrah, Grenache and Tannat, the result is a beautiful garnet red tasting of dark cherries and plums with hints of spice, tobacco and chocolate. $16 btl, $7 btg
- Estate Cab – Another highly ranked red (WE: 93 pts) this elegant Cab is aged in French, Hungarian and American oak and finished with just a dash of Petite Sirah to create a rich, silky red tasting of black cherry, black currants, and blueberry with a touch of cedar and mocha on the finish. $19 btl, $8 btg
