Weekly Tasting, Tues, May 18 – Thurs, May 20
This week we’re excited to taste 3 new wines from Bekaa Valley, Lebanon. Domaine des Tourelles, started by a French family in 1868, has been called one of the finest boutique wineries in the Middle East and “the most seductive winery” in the country. We’re excited to feature 3 of their organic and naturally made wines along with a special flatbread pairing: Manoush (a typical Lebanese flatbread made with Za’atar, ground beef and cheese)
- Dom. des Tourelles Blanc – This blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, Obeidi (a local varietal) and Muscat creates an exotic fruit- and floral-driven white tasting of pineapple, lychee and jasmine. $19 btl, $8 btg
- Dom. des Tourelles Rouge – This blend of Syrah, Cab, Cinsault and Carignan shows why the Bekaa Valley, with its hot dry days and cool night, excels at rich reds: ripe plum, black cherry and boysenberry combine with cedar and rosemary notes. $21 btl, $9 btg
- “Vieilles Vignes” (Old Vine) Carignan – This 100% Carignan comes from 50 year old vines and is a beautiful expression of this rarely-seen single varietal: red raspberry and tart cherry combine with mocha, spices and a touch of fennel and orange zest in this elegant, layered red. $29 btl, $11 btg (Note: 1 of only 2 cases available in Alabama)
Tasting: $15
Flatbread Pairing: $8 (Manoush – typical Lebanese flatbread with ground beef, Za’atar and cheese)
