This Tuesday Tasting we try three spicy Spanish reds made for summer heat. Featuring:
- Vina Zaco – High altitudes and Atlantic winds of the Rioja Alta help ripen the berries in this well-ranked wine to create a fresh, intense red tasting of cherry, black fruits and licorice. $14 btl, $7 btg
- Barco de Piedra – Another highly ranked wine, this red comes from Ribera del Dueros—home of some of Spain’s most robust reds—and it shows in this fuller-bodied tempranillo tasting of black raspberry, blueberry and hint of smokey meat, balanced by a touch of oak. $15 btl, $7 btg
- Paul & Remy — From the makers of a Firehouse favorite, Cuvee Paul, comes this elegant tempranillo grown in Northern Spain tasting of berries, dark plum, spices and a touch of tobacco. $17 btl, $8 btg
