Authentic Mexican Rice Recipe

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté 1 cup of long-grain rice until golden.

 Add 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion and cook until translucent.

Stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Pour in 1 1/2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth and 1 cup of tomato sauce.

Season with 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder, and salt to taste.

 Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.

Once rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
