Avalanche Acquires Casey Mittelstadt
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club has acquired forward Casey Mittelstadt from the Buffalo Sabres.
In exchange, the Avalanche traded defenseman Bowen Byram to the Sabres.
Mittelstadt, 25, led the Sabres in both assists and points this season, recording 47 points in 62 games.
He set career-highs for even-strength goals and average time on ice during his tenure with the Sabres.
Mittelstadt has played 339 regular-season NHL games, registering 186 points with the Sabres.
Additionally, Mittelstadt played 36 games for Buffalo’s AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, in 2019-20.
He played one season for the NCAA’s Minnesota Golden Gophers, registering 30 points in 34 games.
Mittelstadt represented Team USA at the 2018 World Junior Championship, leading the team in scoring and capturing a bronze medal.
