Classic Apple Pie Filling Recipe

Peel, core, and slice 6-8 medium-sized apples.

In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter.

Add apples, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.

Cook over medium heat until apples are tender, about 10 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of cold water.

Stir cornstarch mixture into the apple mixture.

Cook until thickened, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes.

 Remove from heat and let cool before using as pie filling.
