Classic Sponge Cake Recipe

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.

In a bowl, beat 4 eggs until fluffy

Gradually add 1 cup of sugar while continuing to beat until mixture is pale and thick.

Sift 1 cup of flour and 1 teaspoon of baking powder into the egg mixture. Gently fold until just combined.

Pour the batter into the greased cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cake is golden and springs back when touched lightly.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
