Hola! This Tuesday Tasting we take a tour of Spain, trying out 3 flavorful, full-bodied reds that will be sure to warm your spirits in this cold spell.
- Capcanes Mas Donis – This highly rated “baby Priorat” from just outside of Barcelona combines old-vine Grenache and Syrah aged in French and American oak to taste of ripe red and black berries combined with cake spices with a nice minerally finish. $15 btl, $8 btg
- Juan Gil Monastrell – This big, rich red grown in Jumilla (southeast Spain) is also culled from old vines and aged in oak to create powerful flavours of dark plums and cherries with a touch of smoke and mocha. $16 btl, $8 btg
- Clos Pissarra Aristan – Famed winemaker and Master Somm Emmanual Kemiji (Miura Vineyards) has created an inky, lusciously layered red out of this Grenache Syrah blend from Montsant (southern Spain); blackberries, leather and anise combine in this rich red with a long, elegant finish. $23 btl, $9 btg
