Chenin Chic

CheninChic2This Tuesday Tasting we try South Africa’s most popular grape (Chenin Blanc) with three unique and flavour filled whites. Featuring

  • Tea Leaf – Grown on an old Rooibos plantation (an indigenous red tea known for its many health benefits) this delicate, layered white lives up to its name: fresh herb and spice flavours of tea combine with stone fruits, mineral and a hint of tropical fruit (helped by a touch of Grenache Blanc) to create a truly unique white that reflects the region where its from. $17 btl, $8 btg
  • Secateurs —This award winning wine is culled from 50-year old vines and fermented in both concrete and old oak to create a more creamy elegant chenin that tastes of white peach, apple, and melon with a clean mineral finish. $17, $8 btg
  • Pieter Cruythoff – The biggest of the three chenins, this full-bodied white is also harvested from old vines in the Riebeek Valley to deliver a tropical fruit punch of guava and gooseberry with a hint of lemon cream. $12 btl, $6 btg
