  • Di Majo Sangiovese, Tuscany—A great wine at great value, this 100% sangiovese earned 90 pts from Wine Spectator and is a bright red with floral notes tasting of rich berries with a hint of leather and anise on the finish. $12 btl, $6 btg
  • Falesco Vitiano Rosso, Umbria—Consistently well ranked by Wine Advocate (90 pts ’13; 89 pts ’12); this deep ruby-red blends Sangiovese with Cab and Merlot to create a rich dry wine tasting of dark plums, black cherry jam, licorice, and tobacco. $13 btl, $6 btg
  • Poggio Anima Sangiovese, Tuscany—This 100% Sangiovese puts the “super” in Supertuscan; organically farmed from old-vine grapes, Belial (or “lawless”) is a rich earthy red , tasting of red berries and cherries, herbs and foliage, with a hint of sweet pipe tobacco. $15 btl, $7 btg
