This Thursday, March 16, from 5:30-7:30, we’ll be having a special tasting with Wendi Jean Hammon, Winery Director of Carmel Road. Carmel Road is known not only for its well-ranked wines and partnership with award-winning Barrymore Wines but also for being a leader in sustainability, focusing on water conservation, energy efficiency (including a new venture in solar) and land restoration. Wendi and Carmel Road Winemaker Kris Kato have focused on making the most of Monterey’s sunny climate and cool coastline to produce exceptional, hand-made wines that capture the flavours of the fruit and essence of the region.
We’re excited to have Wendi with us to taste 4 wines from this innovative vineyard. Featured wines include:
- Carmel Road Barrymore Pinot Grigio – This light, bright white tastes of lemondrop, Asian pear and honeydew, finishing with a nice minerality and “wet stone” flavors from the ancient rocks of the vineyard.
- Carmel Road Unoaked Chardonnay – Ocean breezes bring a crisp, tangy acidity to the ripe fruit flavors of nectarine, peach, and tropical fruits.
- Carmel Road ‘Drew’s Blend’ Pinot Noir – This vibrant red tastes of ripe red berries with hints of spice and tobacco.
- Carmel Road Monterey Pinot Noir – Black cherry, strawberry, and toasted oak combine with a hint of baking spices in this long, layered pinot.
