Meet the Maker: Bobby Flournoy, B&L Brands

meetmakerbobbyfourney3If you missed our Tuesday Tasting of Basque wines (or if you’re just mad for more Spanish vino), we have a special treat this Thursday, April 20, as Bobby Flournoy, owner of B&L Brands, a boutique distributor of wines from around the world, will be Firehouse from 6-7:30 tasting 4 fantastic Spanish wines. Come join us as Bobby shares his passion for Spanish wines and experiences in the country along with a chance to sample some of the gems of his portfolio. Featuring:

  • Legado del Conde Albarino – This light, bright white is perfect for summer and seafood, combining aromas of melon and flowers with zesty lemon and lime flavours, a touch of pear and green apple, and a long, pleasing minerality. $18 btl
  • Principe de Viana “Edicion Rosa” Rosada — This dry Rosado from sustainably-farmed old Garnacha vines is an appealing satin pink, with delicate fruit aromas and flavours of cherries and wild strawberries. $21 btl
  • Xiloca Garnacha – Harvested from old-vine Garnacha (40-100 years) on an organic, sustainable farm, this intense ruby red tastes of ripe blackberries and plums with a touch of spice and slate on the finish. $15 btl
  • Montana Crianza 2012 – The Montana family has been making rioja for more than 100 years, where they hand pick the Tempranillo (97%) and Graciano (3%) grapes that go into this medium bodied red aged in American oak for 12 months to create complex flavours of deep blackberry, spice, leather and a touch of balsamic. $16 btl
