This Tuesday Tasting we try three reds from the Mediterranean region perfect for warm weather sipping. Featuring:
- Cepas Viejas Bobal, Spain – This fresh, bright red culled from old vine Bobal grapes is aged in American and French oak to create medium-bodied, fruit filled red with touches of forest aromas, toffee and vanilla. $13 btl, $7 btg
- Calendal Cotes du Rhone, France – This highly ranked red is an elegant example of the region and style: Mourvedre and Grenache combine to create black cherry and tart currant flavors with a finish of graphite and black tea.$21 btl, $9 btg
- Carne Mercato, Italy – This fun, medium bodied blend from Italy (made from Sangiovese, Primitivo and other local grapes) makes for a great grilling red (as the label implies); ripe fruit flavours are balanced by spices and herbs with a clean, dry finish. $14 btl, $7 btg
