Mad for Malbecs

madmalbecs2This Tuesday Tasting we try 3 fruit-filled Argentinian reds from the Mendoza region that showcase the country’s flagship grape. Featuring:

  • Zorzal – Gaining praise from critics worldwide for their fresh approach to wine-making and focus on sustainability, this unoaked Malbec from the Michelini brothers tastes of ripe red fruits balanced by a chalky minerality, described by Robert Parker as “pure Malbec juice such as I have never experienced before”. $14 btl, $7 btg
  • Kaiken Reserva – This Mendoza Malbec is blended with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon to create flavors of cranberry and cherry balanced by a touch of spice, floral notes and soft tannins for a lush, easy drinking red. $13 btl, $7 btg
  • Angulo Innocenti – Grown at 3,500 feet, the combination of warm days and cool nights result in a inky robust red, fermented in unoaked vats to allow the rich fruit flavours of dark plum, blueberry, and raspberry to shine through. $19 btl, $8 btg
