Lodi Showdown

lodishowdownThis Tuesday we face off with a taste off at ye ol’ Firehouse as we try 3 rambunctious red blends from Lodi, one of the fastest growing AVAs in California and self-proclaimed “Wild West” of Cali winemaking. Featuring:

  • Peirano “Illusion” – This family-run vineyard established in the 1870s is making a name for itself with this elegant blend of Zin, Merlot, Petite Sirah & Cab – opulent flavors of plum, dark berries and cocoa are balanced with a touch of herbs and anise for a smooth, supple finish. $14 btl, $7 btg
  • Leese-Fitch “Firehouse” – We love this one for more than just its name! 7 grapes are blended (Petite Sirah, Syrah, Merlot, Zin, Barbera, Mourvedre, Tempranillo) for a burst of jammy cherry and berry flavors balanced by a touch of sandalwood and rich earthy notes. $12 btl, $6 btg
  • Klinker Brick “TranZINd” – Another family vineyard famous for their Zins, which you guessed it, make up the bulk of this rich red blend (along with Petite Syrah, Syrah and Cab) tasting of dark blackberries and currants, Asian spices, tobacco and a touch of chocolate. $16 btl, $7 btg

Tasting: $12
