Far Way Chardonnay

farchardThis Tuesday Tasting we try 3 very different styles of Chardonnays from 3 very different regions. Featuring:

  • Domaine Bousquet Chardonnay, Argentina – This Chablis-style chardonnay from the Mendoza estate of 4th-generation French winemakers is made from organic grapes grown at 4,000 ft above sea level. The result ? Bright fruit flavours balanced by tart green apple, a hint of spice and a surprising touch of creaminess for an unoaked chard. $14 btl, $7 btg
  • Animist Chardonnay, California – It’s hard for us to believe this rich Russian River Chard is unoaked, but the winemakers have done an excellent job of bringing out the butter and vanilla notes during the winemaking process while still highlighting the rich flavours of the grape and keeping a touch of minerality to create a truly elegant white. $17 btl, $8 btg
  • Glen Carlou Chardonnay, South Africa – This award-winning white is fermented in French oak for 10 months to imbue soft hazelnut notes that combine with the rich tropical fruit flavors (pineapple, passionfruit) and ending with a crisp, citrus finish. $16 btl, $7 btg

Tasting: $12
