This Tuesday Tasting (Oct 16) we try 3 elegant French wines from one of our favorite wineries: Domaine de Chateaumar, a small family-run vineyard that straddles the border of Cotes du Rhone and Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Featuring:
- Rosé – The winemaker’s motto “Wine is the intellectual element of the meal” holds true for this wine that might make you rethink rosés: rich and fruit filled (made from 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre) with strong flavors of ripe strawberry, raspberry and peach make this one of the biggest, boldest blushes we’ve tried. $15 btl, $7 btg
- Cuvee Bastien – This organic, sustainably grown 100% Grenache is from 50+ year old vines and aged in concrete tanks to allow the bright flavors of the fruit to shine through: raspberry, strawberry and black cherry combine with a touch of anise and graphite in this silky red. $17 btl, $8 btg
- Cuvee Vincent – Another organic, sustainably grown red from old vines (this time 100% Syrah) aged 10 months in French oak to create a lush, complex wine tasting of blackberries, blueberries and dark spices. $17 btl, $8 btg
