B-Side Bubbles

bsidebubblesThis Tuesday Tasting (July 16) we try some unique tracks from the sparkling side of the wine world — these are not your usual bubbles! Featuring:

  • Calcada Vinho Verde Reserve, Portugal – It’s not often we run across a reserve Vinho Verde, but after tasting this, we look forward to trying more! Green apple, honeysuckle, lemon and melon combine in this light, elegant frizzante with a nice salty minerality on the finish. $15 btl, $7 btg
  • Tenuta Maccan Ribolla Gialla, Italy – Fine bubbles give of a slightly floral note in this crisp sparkling made of Ribolla Gialla (a Greek grape that made its way to Italy via Slovenia) tasting of Granny Smith apple, ripe green grapes, and fresh cut grass. $22 btl, $8 btg
  • Sophora Sparkling Cuvée, New Zealand—We’ve long been fans of this NZ winery’s sparkling rosé, and this Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend doesn’t disappoint: elegant aromas and a full palate of ripe oven baked fruit, warm croissants and a touch of citrus make for a long lush mouthful. $15 btl, $7 btg

Tasting: $12
