This Tuesday Tasting (July 23) we try 3 rich, ripe reds from the other half of the hemisphere. Featuring:
- La Posta Pizzella Malbec, Argentina – Translated to “The Tavern” where local growers would meet to discuss their grape crops, this Mendoza Malbec is a beautiful expression of the local fruit: black berries and plums, dark chocolate, sandalwood and spice combine in this lush, full-bodied red. $15 btl, $7 btg
- Botalcura “El Delirio”, Chile – This reserve blend (60% Shiraz and 40% Malbec) out of the Maule Valley highlights the strengths of both grapes: Malbec contributes rich fruit flavours of black cherry and plum, while Syrah adds a punch of black pepper and nutmeg balanced with soft toasted oak notes. $16 btl, $7 btg
- La Mano Derecha Cabernet Reserve, Argentina — Ripe plums, chocolate, and a touch of nutmeg combine in this medium-bodied, elegant Cab that is aged in French oak and stored for several years to attain “Reserva” status. $21 btl, $8 btg
