A Tour of Spain

riojawinesThis Tuesday Tasting (September 24) we try 3 different Spanish varietals from 3 different regions in Spain. Featuring:

  • Marqués de Cáceres Verdejo, Rueda – Intense bouquet of apples, pears and white peaches with mineral notes and a depth of fresh herbs and slightly tart finish in this 100% Verdejo. $12 btl, $6 btg
  • Evodia Old-Vine Garnacha, Calatayud – “Evodia” means fragrant in Greek, and that rings true in this Garnacha from 100-year-old vines: a lovely nose of wild berries and spices combine with rich flavours of blueberry and black currant and a touch of slate. $14 btl, $7 btg
  • Descendientes de Jose Palacios Petalos, Bierzo —This critically acclaimed wine from Northern Spain is made from the regional grape Mencia and strikes the perfect balance of sun-filled Spanish flavors with the subtle elegance of a Rhone red: wild strawberries, black pepper and dark greens are balanced by a minerality, soft tannins and a long, silky finish. $19 btl, $8 btg
