This Tuesday Tasting (Jan 28) we try 3 elegant and interesting Italian wines that will make you want to pause and say “Hello, beautiful!” Featuring:
- Terredora di Paolo Falanghina, Campania – A bright, effervescent white from the famous Falerno region (just south of Rome) with intense aromas of fruit and hints of apple, pineapple, quince and pear combined with soft floral notes and a clean minerality. $18 btl, $8 btg
- Ricossa Barbera Apassimento, Piedmont – This is the first official Barbera from Piedmont made in the appassimento method (drying grapes before pressing) and the results are incredibly elegant! Rich aromas of blackberry, plum and prunes combine with floral notes and a touch of vanilla and mocha in a silky yet structured Barbera. $22 btl, $9 btg
- Visconti della Rocca Montepulciano Reserva, Abruzzo – This aged Montepulciano from central Italy knocked our socks off with its rich flavours of dark blueberries and black plums, earthy notes and mocha, with a long, spicy finish. $15 btl, $7 btg
