Weekly Wine Flight: Tues May 11 – Thurs May 13
This week we celebrate three tasty wines from the land down under – Australia (and the Barossa Valley to be specific). Featuring:
- Pewsey Vale Dry Riesling – Grown in the arid region of Barossa, this white earns rave reviews (Suckling 96 pts) and is a scrumptious surprise: crisp and bone dry, it tastes of limes, white flowers, and fresh rosemary with a clean minerality throughout. $18 btl, $8 btg
- Torbrek Cuvee Juveniles – This highly rated Grenache-driven blend (61% Grenache, 28% Mataro, 11% Shiraz) is surprisingly light and pure for a Barossa red: vibrant flavors of blackberries and cherries combine with a nice touch of spice and minerality in this unoaked, eminently drinkable red. $22 btl, $9 btg
- Schild Estate Shiraz – The quintessential Barossa Valley Shiraz, this dark, rich red tastes of black plum, black currant, mulberries and hints of cocoa with a good snooter of black pepper on the finish. $18 btl, $8 btg
Tasting: $13
Flatbread Pairing $8 – Kumara (sweet potato), prosciutto and smoked cheese
