This week we try three fun summer wines that are not your usual grapes or regions. Featuring:
- Santa Marina Prosecco Rosé, Italy -- A pink prosecco? They exist, and this is a tasty example! In 2021 Prosecco DOC approved sparkling rosés and this one from Santa Marina combines traditional grapes of Glera and Pinot Nero (Noir) to create a soft summer blush tasting of strawberries, raspberries and peach with a soft minerality. $12 btl, $6 btg
- Illahe Rosé, Willamette, OR – This Oregon rosé made from 100% Tempranillo offers fresh approach to summer blushes: aromas of lemon zest, spruce, and rhubarb combine with watermelon, honeydew and strawberry flavours in this lean, crisp wine. $19 btl, $8 btg
- Klinker Brick Grenache Blanc, Lodi, CA — Ranked one of Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines for good reason, this fruit-filled white combines pear, white peach and yellow apple notes into a long, silky finish. $18 btl, $8 btg
