Bubbles Baby!

champagne2As the holidays approach, we get in the spirit with 3 tasty—and surprisingly affordable—sparkling whites from around the world. Featuring:

  • La Marca Prosecco, Italy – This popular prosecco is one of Wine Spectator’s top ranked sparklings under $20 for good reason: light, crisp, and fruity without being too sweet, it tastes of apple, grapefruit and ripe citrus balanced by a touch of honeysuckle.
  • Naveran Cava Brut, Spain – Another consistently well-ranked sparkling, Naveran has been making Cava since 1901 and perfected it with this medium bodied bubbly tasting of baked apple, ripe white peach and a hint of toast.
  • Gruet Brut, New Mexico – Looking for champagne quality at an affordable price? The Gruet family began making champagne in France in the 1940s and opened their NM vineyard (picked for the high altitude and temperatures that mimic the Champagne region) 50 years ago to produce full-bodied sparklings made in the French tradition (triaged for 24 months) to capture the rich tropical flavors of the fruit with hints of bread and a creamy mouth feel.

Tasting: $10
