This Tuesday Tasting we try 3 fantastic Italian wines made from the same grape (Corvino) but in 3 very different styles. Featuring:
- Le Morette Bardolino Classico Chiaretto—Local vintners refer to chiaretto as the “wine of one night” as winemakers must follow strict guidelines in the making: using only first press grapes for no more than 6-8 hrs over night to produce the lovely pink hue and full-bodied fruit flavors for which the style has become famous. $16 btl, $6 btg
- Bardolina Classico—This ruby colored red is exposed to the grape skins for 8 days to create a medium bodied, dry red full of fruit and spice, served chilled to bring out the flavor of the grape. $18 btl, $7 btg
- Corte Volponi Ripasso—Often referred to as a “baby Amarone” (a rich Italian red made from dried grapes) this full-bodied red is made by (re)passing the wine over the sun-dried grapes to bring out the flavors of rich red barriers, black pepper and spice. $22 btl, $9 btg
