All About the Albarino

This Tuesday Tasting we try three delicate whites grown from the same grape (Albarino in Spain, Alvarinho in Portugal):

  • Nortico Alvarinho, Portugal – You can taste the seaside in this delicate white grown on 100-year-old vines: peach, passion fruit, and lemon combine with a hint of salt and oyster shells for a beautiful white in an equally beautiful package (labeled to reflect the town’s centuries old tradition of hand-painted tiles). $14 btl, $7 btg
  • Columna Albarino, Spain – Fresh melon, tangerine and honeydew are balanced by chalky minerals in this delicate white grown in the region of Spain that made the grape famous (Rias Baixas, northwest Spain). $16 btl, $7 btg
  • Raimat Albarino, Spain – Sustainably grown on a winery just outside of Barcelona, this more full-bodied fruit-filled Albarino tastes of yellow apple, dried pineapple and orange with a touch of eucalyptus. $12 btl, $6 btg

Tasting: $10
