3 Arrested in Virginia Beach Shooting Injuring 8-Year-Old

After nearly four weeks of intensive investigation, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) has made multiple arrests linked to the February 13, 2024, shooting at Peele Court, which left an 8-year-old boy critically injured.

Landyn Davis, the 8-year-old victim, was hit in the head by a stray bullet while playing video games at his Peele Court home on February 13.

Following the incident, Landyn was placed in a medically-induced coma for several days. His parents report that he is now making progress, although his road to recovery remains challenging.

Toriyon Cook (21, male) of Chesapeake, Virginia, has been arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Felony Use of a Firearm, Felony Conspiracy, and 24 Counts of Felony Maliciously Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling.

Jerry Davis (24, male) of Chesapeake, Virginia, has also been arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Felony Use of a Firearm, Felony Conspiracy, and 24 Counts of Felony Maliciously Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling.

Jakyra Epperson (21, female) of Norfolk, Virginia, was arrested on February 14, 2024, and charged with Felony Attempt to Conceal / Destroy Evidence and Felony Conspiracy to Conceal / Destroy Evidence.

On February 13, 2024, at 6:15 p.m., the VBPD received a ShotSpotter Alert and multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired in the 3200 block of Peele Court in the Scarborough Square neighborhood of Virginia Beach.

Officers arrived at the scene and found an 8-year-old boy with a serious gunshot wound, as well as two residences damaged by the gunfire.

Since that evening, extensive hours have been dedicated to investigating this incident.

A digital evidence portal has been established for individuals to submit photos and videos relevant to this case.
