LACEY – Chelsea Diehl, a vibrant teen known for her passion for cheerleading and infectious positivity, tragically passed away on March 3 in Lacey Township.
At just 14 years old, Chelsea excelled as an honor roll student at Lacey Township Middle School and was a dedicated member of Pride Elite Competitive Cheer.
Described as a kind-hearted soul with a captivating smile, Chelsea’s love for cheerleading, ice skating, and soccer brought joy to those around her. Her radiant energy touched the lives of everyone she encountered, leaving a lasting impact.
Chelsea leaves behind a grieving family and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, John Diehl, June Thackston, and Judith James, her uncle John Diehl Jr., and great-grandparents Cecil and Edith Knox. She is survived by her parents, Lynn Conklin and Brian Diehl, as well as grandparents Louis and Pat Conklin, “bonus grandparents” Carlos and Jan Arias, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for Chelsea will take place on March 10 from 2 to 5 p.m., with a wake service at 4:30 p.m., at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Route 9, Forked River. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on March 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 300 Lacey Road, Forked River. The burial will be private.
In memory of Chelsea, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to support adolescent suicide prevention. Donations can be made at gofundme.com/f/donate-in-memory-of-chelsea-diehl. Proceeds will contribute to the Celebration of Chelsea Diehl Scholarship Fund, benefiting students in the Lacey Township School District starting this summer.
