Kyrie Irving created NBA history during the Mavs-Celtics game

Kyrie Irving made NBA history during Friday’s game.

Friday night sees the Dallas Mavericks facing off against the Boston Celtics in Massachusetts.

In a historic moment during the game, Kyrie Irving surpassed Kemba Walker (1,670) to claim the 34th spot on the all-time three-pointers list in the NBA.

Next in line for Irving to surpass is the legendary Steve Nash (1,685), a Hall of Famer.

Before the evening began, Irving had been averaging 25.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 49.5% from the field and 42.5% from three-point range across 37 games.

As for the Mavericks, they hold the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 34-25 record after 59 games.

They’ve won 8 out of their last 10 games, with their latest victory being against the Toronto Raptors with a score of 136-125.

In the game, Irving scored 29 points, grabbed one rebound, dished out three assists, made two steals, and blocked one shot. He shot 11 for 20 from the field and 2 for 6 from three-point range in 35 minutes of playtime.

After facing the Celtics, the Mavericks will head back home to host the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday afternoon in Dallas, Texas.

Irving was the first pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Duke and is in his 12th season in the league.

He has also spent time with the Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers (in addition to Dallas).
