Middletown school district officials have confirmed that a 911 call reporting an active shooter at Monhagen Middle School this afternoon was determined to be a hoax by law enforcement.
The school briefly went into lockdown while police searched the premises.
The district is currently investigating the incident.
Authorities revealed that the false call originated from the school’s cafeteria, and those responsible have been identified.
After assessments by various agencies, it was determined that the threat was not credible.

There is no active shooter situation at Monhagen Middle School or any other Middletown campus. The lockdown was lifted after about 5 minutes, and a lockout was implemented as a precaution.
A thorough search of both the interior and exterior of the campus was conducted for added safety.
