Woman from Dorchester Co. charged with food stamps fraud

Dorchester Country News: The South Carolina Department of Social Services has charged a woman from Dorchester County with fraud for allegedly stealing over $9,000 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Brittany Dionne Camden, 37, faces one count of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps, valued at more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.

According to investigators, Camden failed to report her wages on three separate occasions between April 2020 and December 2021, resulting in $9,854 in overpaid SNAP benefits.

Camden has been booked into the Dorchester County Detention Center. A booking photo for Camden is not currently available.
