Old World Rosés

OldWorldRoseThis Tuesday Tasting, we bask in the last days of summer, celebrating the season’s favorite blush with 3 rosés from 3 different countries. Featuring:

  • Liquid Geography Rosado, Spain – This pale pink made from 50 year old Mencia vines (a red grape unique to the Iberian peninsula) is the brain child of rosé guru Charles Bieler and Spanish winemaker Alberto Orte: fruity and silky, tasting of strawberries and cream; best of all 100% of the profits of this unique rosé go to cancer research and educational foundations.$12 btl, $6 btg
  • Le Morette Bardolino Chiaretto, Italy—Local vintners refer to chiaretto as the “wine of one night” as winemakers must follow strict guidelines in the making: using only first press grapes (Corvino, in this case) for no more than 6-8 hrs over night to produce the lovely pink hue and full-bodied fruit flavors for which the style has become famous. $16 btl, $6 btg
  • Elicio, France – This Grenache-Syrah blend from the Rhone Valley delivers a lot of summer seasonal fruit (strawberry, raspberry and peach) with just enough herbs and minerals to provide a clean finish. $11 btl, $5 btg

Tasting: $10
