Cool Cali Grapes

coolcaligrapes2This Tuesday Tasting (Dec 3) we try 3 California wines that are not your usual varietals. Featuring:

  • Treasure Hunter Vermentino – We’ve long been fans of these micro-lot, one-time release wines and this new white from Russian River Valley is another hit: fresh-cut pears, melon and honeysuckle are balanced with a nice squeeze of citrus and riverstone minerality in this round, luscious white made from the traditional Italian grape Vermentino. $17 btl, $8 btg
  • Birichino “Scylla” – This bright, beautiful red made from old-vine Carignane (with a splash of Grenache and Mourvedre) is unfiltered, unfined and aged in neutral barrels to let the flavours of the grapes shine through: bright red cherry and red raspberry combine with a touch of baking spice and a hint of dry forest pine on the nose. $23 btl, $9 btg
  • Ferrari Carano – This award winning Sonoma red is made predominately from Sangiovese and aged in a mix of new and neutral oak to create an easy-sipping red with rich fruit notes of blackberry, blueberry, and pomegranate finished with soft touch of sweet oak and butterscotch. $20 btl, $8 btg

Tasting: $13

And if you haven’t been in for a Tuesday Tasting in a while, we are now serving artisanal flat breads to complement each tasting. This week?  Spicy Baja Shrimp
