Weekly Wine Flight: Tues, Mar 22- Thurs, Mar 24
This week’s tasting features 3 classic wines from 3 countries that have made them famous.
- Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige, Italy – It’s been a while since we’ve been excited by an Italian Pinot Grigio, but this elegant white is a beautiful reminder of why the varietal from this country shot to fame: pear, green apple, and white peach combine with notes of honeysuckle, minerality and a touch of acid on the finish. $8 btg, $16 btl
- Tooth & Nail Cabernet, Paso Robles, CA – A classic Cali Cab on all fronts: dark fruit flavors (black cherries, currants and plums) with a hint of toasted oak and silky tannins; a dash of Bordeaux grapes (Petit Verdot and Merlot) add a nice finishing touch of graphite and dried herbs. $9.5 btg, $21 btl
- Beronia Rioja Reserva, Rioja, Spain – Highly acclaimed for good reason, this Tempranillo Reserva (aged 18 months in barriques and an additional 2-3 years in the bottle) is filled with rich cherry, blackberry and cassis flavours along with aromatic spices (cinnamon, anise and vanilla) for a long, layered red. $10 btg, $22 btl
